Applications & Open Days

At the University of Southampton we are committed to attracting the most talented students from all backgrounds to our outstanding, research-led education.

How to Apply

Our Undergraduate Applications page has a full explanation of the application process.

We strongly encourage you to come to one of our Open Days to get a feel for the University and its facilities.

Faculty Application Requirements

Each programme has their own entry requirements. Find out what we require from applicants below.

All applications, both UK/EU and international, should be made via UCAS at http://www.ucas.com

UCAS equal consideration deadline: 15 January.

Portfolio Interviews

Applicants who meet, or are predicted to meet, our minimum entry requirements and have applied for Fashion Design, Fine Art, Games Design and Art, Graphic Arts, or Textile Design will be invited to attend a portfolio interview, which allows you to demonstrate your creative ability. Portfolio guidance can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page under ‘Useful downloads’.

International and EU students: We do not expect international students who are not already studying in the UK to attend an interview here. On some occasions a member of staff may be visiting your country and an interview can be arranged. As a general rule international students are invited to send in a portfolio of work by post or email.

Open Days

If you get the chance, why not visit our campus in the beautiful city of Winchester? This is the best way for you to fully understand what we are about. Here you can meet our staff, chat with our current students, see our first-class facilities, experience our work, visit our halls of residence (Open Days only), and find the answers to any questions you may have about what we have to offer here at Winchester School of Art.

At the Open Day you’ll be able to find out more about studying at WSA from our Programme Leaders, other academic staff, and our students. We offer a tour of our campus and nearby halls of residence. You may also wish to take a stroll around Winchester City Centre which is just a couple of minutes walk from our campus. Winchester was recently voted the Best Place to Live in the UK by the Sunday Times.

For Undergraduate Open Days, you must book a place in order to attend.
